Debio Recherche Pharmaceutique S.A.: Martigny, an obvious choice

Debio R.P. in Martigny was created in 1981 by Dr Rolland-Yves Mauvernay under the name of Cytotech. In 1989, the society moved in the first building of its current location in route du Levant and later became Debio R.P.

The society was a pioneer in the manufacturing of controlled-release drugs, such as for instance the Decapeptyl®/Trelstar®/Pamorelin®, which is a drug used for the treatment of advanced-stage prostate cancer and for some women’s hormonodependent illnesses. The controlled-release has allowed some patients to go from one daily injection to a monthly, three-monthly and then six-monthly injection. The enterprise now assures the production of 3 formulations (1 month, 3 months, 6 months) of what has since become its leading product, the Decapeptyl®/Trelstar®/Pamorelin®, developed by the Debiopharm Group™.

The Debio R.P. society is also very active in the research field and in several branches of the development field, principally in the field of peptides.

The company benefits from authorizations from the highest Swiss sanitary authorities (Swissmedic, which also elaborates quality norms at an international level in collaboration with the European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines & Healthcare (EDQM) of the Council of Europe) and the American sanitary authorities (FDA).

Debio R.P. employs more than 130 collaborators of 15 different nationalities, 50% of who are scholars and engineers in a group, which contains 4 complementary operational societies (Debiopharm Group in Debiopharm SA-Lausanne, Debioclinic-Paris, Debioinnovation-Lausanne and Debio R.P.-Martigny).

It also closely collaborates with the EPFL and the HES-SO in the field of life sciences.
